A IBM Case Study
Honda R&D, the research and development arm of Honda, wanted to unlock insights from vehicle sensors, customer surveys, telematics, and other big data sources to better understand driver behavior and design safer, more personalized vehicles. The company turned to IBM and its advanced analytics tools, including IBM SPSS Modeler, IBM Watson Content Analytics, and IBM Predictive Maintenance and Quality.
IBM trained Honda R&D engineers on its analytics suite and deployed a flexible cloud-based text analytics environment, helping teams mine unstructured data, share information, and collaborate more effectively. As a result, more than 100 engineers were trained, over a million documents could be analyzed in about 10 minutes, costs were reduced through data reuse, and Honda R&D gained new insights that informed product design and steering personalization.
