Case Study: APL achieves faster, lower-cost medicines distribution with IBM Services for Managed SAP Applications

APL, Indonesia’s largest pharmaceutical distributor, needed to lower logistics and operational costs while also gaining deeper sales insights to better serve customers across thousands of islands. Working with IBM and its Services for Managed SAP Applications, APL sought to modernize an aging SAP ERP environment and replace manual processes that slowed order handling and limited visibility.

IBM implemented a cloud-based SAP HANA environment under IBM Services for Managed SAP Applications, helping APL digitize workflows, launch mobile ordering apps, and improve reporting for near-real-time client insights. The results included a 59% shift from Capex to Opex, two months saved on SAP HANA deployment, and 97% of customer orders delivered on time, while also giving APL stronger uptime, flexibility, and efficiency.
