Deutsche Lufthansa AG set out to reengineer its web presence to deliver a better online customer experience and to support a new content management system running on Linux. IBM was engaged to provide the platform and services, using technologies such as IBM WebSphere and IBM System p and teams from IBM Global Business Services alongside IBM Cloud Managed Services to extend hosting and modernize the site.

IBM implemented a managed web portal and hybrid cloud hosting solution with strict SLAs for capacity, availability and response times, and in 2013 upgraded Lufthansa’s infrastructure by deploying an IBM Cloud Managed Services hybrid environment. The solution delivered a high-performance, personalized user experience in 12 languages to 94 countries, improved scalability and dependability, increased flight bookings and profitability, and reduced operating costs.
