Case Study: Banrisul achieves faster, more resilient mobile banking with IBM storage solutions

A IBM Case Study

Delivering high-speed mobile banking to 4 million customers in Brazil

Banrisul, one of Brazil’s largest banks serving more than 4 million customers, faced declining storage performance as transaction volumes grew, putting pressure on core banking systems and slowing critical procedures. The bank needed a more cost-effective way to improve speed, capacity, and disaster recovery while supporting its mobile and online banking growth, and turned to IBM for help.

IBM implemented IBM DS8886F all-flash storage, IBM HyperSwap, IBM Spectrum Control, and related IBM Z and migration services to modernize Banrisul’s storage environment with minimal disruption. The result was up to a 60% reduction in batch-job processing time, failover recovery shortened from up to two hours to as little as 28 seconds, and lower total cost of ownership through reduced energy use and data center space, all while improving resilience and customer experience.
