A IBM Case Study
Banco Itaú Paraguay needed to stabilize its digital banking platform as more customers moved online and on mobile, where any downtime could increase churn. To address compatibility and reliability issues affecting its Oracle databases, the bank worked with IBM and IBM Business Partner Softshop, using IBM Power Systems and IBM FlashSystem technology to support its 24/7 banking services.
IBM implemented a new platform based on IBM Power Systems E870 servers, IBM AIX, IBM PowerVM, and IBM FlashSystem V9000 storage, migrating the bank’s Oracle databases and data warehouse in just three months. The result was zero unplanned downtime, faster application response times, lower Oracle licensing costs, and improved storage efficiency, with Banco Itaú Paraguay reporting that it now uses only about 50% of CPU capacity and has more room to grow its digital services.
