A IBM Case Study
CEVA Logistics, a global provider of freight forwarding and contract logistics, faced sharp seasonal spikes in electronic data interchange (EDI) traffic—handling about 1,400 trading partners, 2,300 EDI maps and roughly 1 million transactions per day—which strained multiple legacy in‑house platforms and slowed provisioning during peaks like Black Friday. To modernize and ensure rock‑solid availability, CEVA partnered with IBM to adopt the cloud‑based IBM Supply Chain Business Network for its EDI services.
IBM migrated CEVA’s EDI workloads to the Supply Chain Business Network, delivering elastic, managed cloud capacity and streamlined operations. As a result, CEVA can add EDI capacity 90% faster (days instead of weeks), has cut migration requirements by ~40% through documented cleanup, reduced ASN processing from up to two hours to minutes, avoided an estimated 50% in capital costs versus a new in‑house platform, and moved nearly half its EDI volume to the IBM platform—positioning CEVA to handle projected growth and shorten time‑to‑market for new connections by about 40%.
