A IBM Case Study
The Arizona State Land Department manages about 9.2 million acres of State Trust lands to generate revenue for public education, but slow data access was hurting productivity for staff who rely on VDI, GIS, CAD, and other enterprise applications. The department needed faster access to business-critical information, better mobile support for field workers, and improved performance for large, complex datasets.
IBM implemented a VersaStack solution with IBM FlashSystem V9000 and IBM Storwize V3700, along with Cisco infrastructure, to accelerate storage and simplify the IT environment. The results were dramatic: virtual desktop boot times dropped by more than 86% from 15 minutes to about 2 minutes, some Oracle jobs that took 15 to 20 minutes now run almost instantly, and server utilization improved by 60 to 70%, helping boost user satisfaction, productivity, and IT cost savings.
