Channell Commercial Corporation, a manufacturer serving telecom and utility customers, faced the challenge of managing highly complex production and inventory planning across multiple plants and processes. Its planners relied on manual, spreadsheet-based workflows to match inventory with materials needs, which was time-consuming and increased the risk of errors and delays. Channell worked with IBM and IBM Business Partner Draca Solutions, using IBM Planning Analytics Express and IBM Cognos Analytics.
IBM implemented an integrated planning and analytics platform that automated reporting, broke down inventory by finished goods, work-in-progress, and raw materials, and generated bills of materials for projects. As a result, Channell cut analysis time from many hours or even a full day to just a few hours, improved inventory visibility across more than 9,000 finished goods items, reduced human error, and gained more accurate lead times and better resource planning.
