Coop Group optimizes product assortment across a growing retail footprint with IBM, SAP and SUSE

Coop Group, a major Swiss retailer and wholesaler, was looking for a way to reduce food waste while supporting rapid growth across its stores. As its SAP workloads, data volumes, and backup demands increased, the company needed more performance, reliability, and capacity for mission-critical merchandizing and logistics processes, and it turned to IBM Power systems with SAP and SUSE Linux for support.

IBM implemented high-performance IBM Power10 servers, including IBM Power E1080 systems, to run Coop Group’s SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA environments more efficiently. The result was up to 30% faster SAP S/4HANA reporting, 50% faster initial backup writes, 20% less time spent on system updates and security, and 11 years of IBM Power availability without a server failure, helping Coop Group improve efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
