A IBM Case Study
The Automotive Group of Continental AG, a major automotive supplier, faced rising costs and inefficiencies after corporate acquisitions left it with two separate, incompatible SAP application suites that lacked multi-language support. This hindered its goal of achieving a single, global ERP system. The company enlisted IBM Global Business Services to help it upgrade and consolidate its legacy systems.
IBM implemented a solution by upgrading the company's systems in the Czech Republic and India to SAP ERP 6.0 with Unicode support. This involved migrating the platform from Microsoft Windows to UNIX and moving 100 users and 200GB of data. As a result, IBM provided the Automotive Group with a standardized, multi-language platform that paved the way for full global consolidation, reducing future support and development costs while enabling centralized operations.
