ÇimSA Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., one of Turkey’s leading cement manufacturers, needed a better way to manage a rapidly expanding global supply chain and make faster “what-if” decisions while reducing manufacturing, distribution, and inventory costs. Its legacy planning tool was too slow and limited for the complexity of its operations, so it turned to IBM and the IBM CPLEX Optimization Studio toolset.

IBM implemented CPLEX Optimization Studio with support from IBM Lab Services, IBM Data Science Elite, and IBM Business Partner Lumtify to build optimization models for supply chain design and fuel-mix planning. The new solution helped ÇimSA reduce inventory costs by 10% and manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution costs by 3%, while making scenario report processing 12 times faster and improving decision-making for management.
