A IBM Case Study
Merck KGaA, a global pharmaceutical and chemical company, needed to foster innovation and capitalize on the collective intelligence of its widely distributed workforce. Their challenge was to unite employees and encourage them to share knowledge and expertise using social business technologies. To address this, they turned to vendor IBM and its IBM Connections Cloud platform.
IBM implemented a cloud-based social business solution that enabled a four-day virtual brainstorming event. This initiative engaged over 400 employees in dynamic online discussions. The solution from IBM helped identify previously hidden internal experts, led to the implementation of innovative new projects, and revealed process deficiencies that allowed for critical business transformations.
