City Furniture - Customer Case Study

CITY Furniture, a Florida-based multimillion-dollar retailer with more than 39 showrooms, needed to protect its data center and mission-critical ERP systems from severe weather risks like hurricanes, tornadoes, and lightning strikes. The company turned to IBM Power Virtual Server on IBM Cloud to create a more resilient hybrid cloud infrastructure that could support business continuity and future growth.

IBM migrated CITY Furniture’s on-prem systems to IBM i on IBM Power Virtual Server, with hybrid cloud integration, cross-region replication, and PowerHA geographic mirroring to support disaster recovery and continuous operations. The results included a 35% reduction in IT operational costs, 80% less IT overhead for hurricane preparation, and 100% ability to flex capacity during peak periods, while quarterly failover testing helped ensure uninterrupted service.
