A IBM Case Study
China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd. (CMBC), one of China’s leading retail banks, needed to meet rising demand for 24/7 banking while controlling costs and protecting the availability of a mission-critical fee-calculation system. The bank wanted to avoid service interruptions that could hurt customer satisfaction and its competitive position, and turned to IBM DB2 pureScale for help.
IBM implemented a geographically displaced IBM DB2 pureScale cluster on IBM Power 750 Express servers to provide active/active database availability across two sites. The solution reduced the transaction fee system’s Recovery Time Objective to almost zero, improved data protection, and eliminated the need for idle standby systems, helping CMBC boost resource utilization, reduce operational risk, and deliver nonstop service to customers.
