CenturyLink, a telecom and technology services provider, needed to replace shrinking legacy revenue with growth from acquisitions and new services. To support that transformation, CenturyLink worked with IBM to modernize its SAP environment and accelerate the integration of major acquisitions.

IBM implemented SAP Business Suite and SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems servers, along with IBM FlashSystem storage, giving CenturyLink the flexibility to run multiple SAP HANA environments on the same platform. The results included some financial transactions running 64 times faster, month-end cost allocation 1.57 times faster, and a 60% reduction in SAP database size, which improved backup and recovery and sped up acquisition onboarding.
