Centre de Regulació Genòmica supports cutting-edge research with lightning-fast file transfer

Centre de Regulació Genòmica (CRG), a biomedical research institute, needed a way to share massive genome sequencing datasets with research institutions around the world quickly and cost-effectively. Traditional file transfer methods could not handle the scale, variety, and speed required for the European Genome-phenome Archive, where studies could involve up to 500 TB of data.

IBM implemented IBM Aspera High-Speed File Transfer to give CRG a secure, high-performance platform for moving genomic data at scale. The solution enabled transfer speeds of up to 3 Gbit/s, supported the sharing of up to 500 TB of sequencing data, and helped CRG and the EGA accelerate access to research data while supporting leading-edge genetics research.
