Idea Cellular Ltd., a major mobile services operator in India, wanted to maximize revenue and improve customer service in a hyper-competitive market. Their challenge was to move away from inefficient manual methods for marketing campaigns and implement a fully automated process to better retain customers and create cross-sell opportunities. To address this, they worked with vendor IBM and leveraged its information management and analytics solutions, including IBM InfoSphere.
IBM implemented a campaign management solution that could analyze massive volumes of customer data in real time. This allowed Idea to predict which customers might leave and present them with timely, relevant offers to improve retention. As a result, IBM helped Idea increase revenue by nearly 10 percent through automated campaigns. The company also improved the frequency of its customer segmentation reporting by more than seven times and reduced manual activities by 80 percent.
