A IBM Case Study
Bharti Infratel, one of the world's largest communications passive infrastructure providers, faced the challenge of managing high operational costs across its vast network of over 30,000 towers in India. With 16 TB of data in siloed systems, the company was unable to gain a unified view of tower tenancy to identify inefficiencies and reduce costs. To address this, they turned to IBM, implementing a business analytics solution that included IBM Cognos, InfoSphere DataStage, and DB2.
The IBM solution provided Bharti Infratel with its first company-wide insight into tower occupancy, market share, and operational performance. This enabled the sales team to target marketing efforts to fill low-tenancy towers, which increased revenue and reduced energy costs per tenant. The implementation also helped reduce bad debts and customer churn by isolating the root causes of these issues.
