Baldor Electric Company, a global manufacturer of industrial electric motors and power-transmission products, needed faster, more reliable analysis of massive transaction and SAP Business Warehouse data to support real-time manufacturing and superior customer service. Facing growing data volumes and a planned replacement that would require new technologies and skills, Baldor selected IBM, choosing the IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator integrated with its IBM z Systems platform to protect existing investments and speed analytics.

IBM implemented the Db2 Analytics Accelerator (with IBM PureData System for Analytics and Db2 for z/OS), delivering a rapid proof-of-concept and a seamless cutover. The solution reduced report times from about 30 minutes to under a minute, improved load times, cut maintenance and support costs (including eliminating prior monthly support fees), shortened rebuild time from roughly a day to about two hours, removed single-person support risk, and provided onsite IBM support — enabling Baldor to extend accelerated analytics across SAP and non‑SAP workloads and improve operational resilience.
