A IBM Case Study
Höganäs Borgestad, an industrial products specialist with operations in multiple countries, wanted to merge its companies under one brand and build a centralized IT infrastructure to improve collaboration, reduce costs, and simplify complex ERP systems. To support this transformation, the company worked with IBM and Atea Sverige AB, using IBM FlashSystem storage to create a more scalable, high-performance virtualized data environment.
IBM implemented IBM FlashSystem 5000 storage with IBM Spectrum Virtualize to support business-critical applications, databases, and a Citrix environment, while keeping the rollout separate from legacy systems to avoid disruption. The results were strong: storage performance doubled, server updates became 58% faster, and the company cut costs by 90% versus comparable alternatives, while also gaining the capacity to support twice its current size.
