A IBM Case Study
Connio, a tech startup based in Canada, sought to build a scalable, end-to-end IoT platform to help clients rapidly deploy IoT solutions. Their key challenge was finding a cost-effective and flexible data layer capable of managing the enormous volume and variety of unstructured data generated by connected devices. To address this, they turned to vendor IBM.
IBM implemented its Cloudant database service as the foundational data layer for Connio's platform. This solution provided the required schema flexibility, elastic scalability, and cloud-based operation to handle billions of data points. The results allowed Connio to support explosive growth, avoid significant capital expenditure, and successfully launch large-scale projects like a smart city initiative in Turkey, all while focusing on service development instead of infrastructure management.
