A IBM Case Study
Boots, the UK pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer, needed to modernize its aging e-commerce infrastructure to cope with surging online demand, especially during COVID-19 peak periods. Working with IBM Consulting and IBM iX, Boots sought help moving from a pre-pandemic website to a more scalable digital platform that could better support customers and future growth.
IBM implemented a major transformation by migrating Boots to IBM Cloud and Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, while also upgrading to HCL Commerce. The rollout launched with zero incidents and no customer impact, and the new platform helped Boots achieve more than 42% annual growth in digital orders, over 115% revenue growth in two years, and the ability to handle more than 27,000 visitors at peak.
