Belgium’s NBN does more in less time with IBM Robotic Process Automation software

Bureau voor Normalisatie (NBN), Belgium’s standards organization, needed a faster way to publish growing volumes of ISO standards. Its manual registration process was tedious, error-prone, and could take eight weeks or more, limiting how many standards NBN could handle. To solve this, NBN worked with IBM and IBM Robotic Process Automation software through IBM Business Partner Parplex.

IBM implemented a bot named Otis to automate ballot creation, data collection, and standard implementation across NBN’s systems and websites. The results were significant: NBN increased annual ISO standards publishing from 800 to 2,150, saved about 650 hours in 2021, and cut manual intervention to around 5% of cases.
