Asepeyo, a Spanish nonprofit mutual health insurer, needed a way to speed up multiplatform app development and simplify mobile lifecycle management in a competitive, paper-heavy industry. To gain a service-quality edge, it turned to IBM Mobile Foundation and IBM’s design-thinking approach to create a security-rich mobile solution for Apple iOS and Google Android.

IBM implemented the mobile platform so Asepeyo could build apps from one code base, connect to back-end data in real time, and manage the app lifecycle more easily. The result was the industry’s first mobile app of its kind, which improved customer satisfaction, reduced errors and bureaucracy, and helped employers make faster decisions and lower costs; the success was strong enough that more apps are now planned.
