A IBM Case Study
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) needed a more resilient mainframe environment to support millions of customers and critical banking services while reducing downtime and meeting stricter business continuity requirements. Working with IBM, ANZ used IBM zSystems and related storage and resiliency technologies to replace a traditional primary/DR setup with a more flexible, mirrored design.
IBM implemented an environment with identically configured sites, enabling rapid capacity shifts across and within sites using technologies such as HyperSwap, IBM Copy Services Manager, and IBM Flexible Capacity for Cyber Resiliency. As a result, ANZ moved from quarterly DR exercises to streamlined site swaps about every six months, improved recovery times, increased capacity utilization, and gained multiple recovery options with minimal or no loss of operational continuity.
