A IBM Case Study
The United States Tennis Association (USTA), which runs the US Open, needed to keep its digital experience fresh, scalable, and engaging for more than 14 million fans while managing massive spikes in traffic and an ever-growing volume of match data. Working with IBM Consulting and IBM watsonx, the USTA set out to modernize the US Open app and website with AI, hybrid cloud, and automation.
IBM implemented a smarter digital platform using hybrid multicloud infrastructure, IBM watsonx.data, IBM watsonx.ai, IBM Granite, IBM Instana, and other tools to turn more than 7 million tournament data points into real-time insights and AI-powered fan features. The results included over 7 million AI-generated insights during the tournament, 99.999% uptime, an 80% reduction in manual build and provisioning cycle time, and a more than 300% boost in Match Report production, helping the USTA deliver a faster, more immersive fan experience.
