Case Study: Swedbank achieves greater agility and productivity with IBM DevOps modernization

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Swedbank Case Study

Achieving maximum agility and productivity through DevOps

Swedbank, a major Nordic bank, needed to modernize its IBM Z mainframe development environment so younger developers could work more easily and the team could keep pace with changing banking regulations and rising customer expectations. The bank also wanted better tools for application discovery, analysis, and DevOps-driven development. IBM provided the mainframe modernization support, including IBM Explorer for z/OS Aqua and IBM Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence.

IBM implemented IBM Developer for z/OS to create a more integrated, DevOps-based toolset for development, testing, debugging, and analysis. The rollout was supported by IBM remote assistance and an internal IDzEE Champions Program, helping drive adoption across the organization. As a result, Swedbank has onboarded 260 developers, improved estimation accuracy, and gained faster impact analysis and higher productivity, with forecasted benefits including a 15% reduction in time-to-market and a 15% increase in developer productivity.
