A IBM Case Study
Getac Technology Corporation, a leading manufacturer of rugged computing solutions, faced a challenge with its aging IT infrastructure. The company needed to ensure 24/7 availability for its mission-critical Oracle business systems to maintain its reputation for on-time delivery and protect valuable customer relationships. System instability and the risk of unplanned downtime were significant threats to its global operations.
Getac, with the help of IBM Business Partner Asgard System, implemented a new infrastructure based on IBM Power Systems servers running IBM AIX and IBM PowerVM. This IBM solution provided a highly reliable and robust platform. The results included 99 percent uptime for Oracle applications, an 83 percent improvement in application response times, and an 85 percent reduction in month-end financial closing processes, ensuring Getac could consistently meet its delivery commitments.
