FAW-Volkswagen, the China-based joint venture behind Volkswagen, Audi and Jetta vehicles, needed to keep pace with the rapid shift to digital, connected and electric vehicles while improving the customer experience. It turned to IBM Consulting and IBM Garage, along with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, to address the growing software and integration complexity across its brands and driving services.
IBM helped FAW-Volkswagen build and train a 150+ person digital innovation team and modernize integration with cloud-native, API-based capabilities on Red Hat OpenShift. The result was a more seamless driving experience, onboarding of ecosystem partners reduced from months to weeks, a 50% faster time to develop solutions using back-end systems, and more than 3 million new users registered for the VW and Jetta brand apps.
