A IBM Case Study
Cornell University needed a more robust way to manage facilities maintenance across more than 700 buildings, replacing paper tickets and disconnected legacy processes with a system that could organize, prioritize, and schedule work more efficiently. The university turned to IBM and IBM Maximo Application Suite to support preventive maintenance, utilities operations, and better resource forecasting for people and materials.
IBM implemented a modern Maximo-based mobile and maintenance platform with consulting, training, and legacy system integration. The result was a fully paperless workflow, support for 800+ service requests per day, growth from 10 pilot users to 260 in a few months, and mobile users reaching 377; Cornell also reduced IT developers maintaining the system from 5 to 2, improving efficiency, compliance, and resource allocation.
