A IBM Case Study
A military team stationed in Afghanistan was challenged with analyzing vast amounts of complex tactical intelligence data from a large geographical area. Their previous methods of producing written summaries caused details and connections to be lost, making it difficult to form a complete picture of insurgent activity and relationships. To overcome this, they turned to IBM and its IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook software.
By implementing IBM's solution, the team was able to fuse disparate data from multiple sources into a cohesive intelligence picture. The IBM software helped them identify previously unnoticed patterns and connections, which allowed them to deliberately disrupt insurgent operations. The solution reduced duplicate efforts, maximized corroboration, and provided a greater understanding of the human terrain, fundamentally improving their approach to intelligence.
