A hybrid approach to connecting with customers made easy

Hendrickson, a global manufacturer and supplier of truck and trailer suspension systems, needed to meet a major customer’s requirement for real-time API-based transactions, especially for advance shipping notifications (ASNs). The company was already using IBM Sterling® B2B Integration SaaS Premium for EDI connections, but wanted a way to support API capabilities without rebuilding its ERP or adding significant internal IT resources.

IBM implemented a B2B API gateway on the IBM Sterling platform to create a hybrid EDI-to-API solution across 13 Hendrickson facilities. The result was real-time confirmation that ASNs loaded successfully, 100% ASN availability in the customer’s system, faster error resolution, and a solution delivered ahead of deadline; IBM also enabled Hendrickson to scale the approach for future customer requirements.
