A IBM Case Study
The German Social Services Organization was struggling to manage a growing and increasingly complex child welfare caseload: much of the work was paper-based so cases could be lost when children moved or staff were absent, provider selection relied on intuition, and a lack of integration between case management and payment systems risked payments continuing after services ended. IBM was engaged to address these challenges using its IBM Cúram suite (including IBM Cúram Appeals, Child Welfare, Provider Management, Social Enterprise Collaboration, Social Program Management Platform and Verification Engine).
IBM implemented an integrated Cúram solution that aggregates case and provider information in a centralized data warehouse and delivers a single dashboard with child-specific information, financial data, service plans and case status to support caseworker collaboration. The IBM Cúram deployment improved provider-to-child matching, streamlined workflows to reduce lost or paper-bound cases, and lowered the risk of erroneous payments by linking payments and case status, thereby improving continuity of care and operational efficiency.
