The University of Tasmania partnered with IBM to tackle inefficient academic workflows that were slowing support for students and researchers. Complex tasks such as finding course materials, compiling research documentation, securing ethics approvals and managing administrative submissions were time-consuming, creating delays and limiting innovation.
IBM helped the University of Tasmania implement an AI CourseMate solution using IBM watsonx.ai, IBM watsonx Orchestrate, IBM watsonx.governance and IBM Cloud. The prototype streamlined access to academic resources and automated manual work, delivering 90.9% response accuracy and an 88% application success rate, while improving operational efficiency and giving students practical AI experience.
