A IBM Case Study
Ricoh Company, Ltd. needed to modernize core systems that had been running for more than 20 years while improving maintenance and operations to support its shift into a digital services company. As DX accelerated, Ricoh faced pressure to move beyond cost-focused IT operations and create more strategic value, and it began working with IBM and IBM Consulting to support this transformation.
IBM implemented AI- and automation-driven operations improvements, including RPA-based task automation, test automation, always-on monitoring, CI/CD, and SAP modernization support. Through IBM’s Application Management Services, Ricoh achieved stable operations and faster incident response, while reducing maintenance-and-operations FTE staffing by 28% across about 90 applications over roughly 10 years, helping the company strengthen DX execution and IT value creation.
