Riding the digital wave in ship building Damen Services optimizes vessel management with LAMA Empowerz and IBM

Damen Group, a global shipbuilder with more than 55 shipyards, needed a better way to improve consistency and transparency in vessel configuration data across teams. Working with IBM and LAMA Empowerz, the company looked to standardize how it managed configuration information and create a single source of truth that could also support new service opportunities over a vessel’s lifecycle.

IBM helped Damen implement Damen Maintenance Management Solution (DMMS) built on the IBM Maximo Application Suite. The platform now manages more than 2,700 vessel configurations, supports lifecycle cost calculations, connects to IoT data for automated maintenance, and integrates with the MyDamen portal to improve customer service. The result is deeper insight into maintenance needs and operating costs, plus new cross-sell and up-sell opportunities for spare parts and services.
