BCC Iccrea Group, one of Italy’s leading cooperative banking groups, needed a seamless way to integrate third-party services with its mainframe core banking applications. The lack of integrated connectivity and monitoring made auditing, performance tracking, and day-to-day operations inefficient, limiting innovation and adding pressure on mainframe resources. IBM helped BCC Iccrea Group address this challenge with IBM Z technologies and IBM Consulting support.
IBM implemented a hybrid solution using IBM z/OS Connect, IBM WebSphere Liberty, and IBM Z Operational Log and Data Analytics to connect external REST APIs and extend observability into the bank’s existing Elasticsearch monitoring stack. The result was a 65% reduction in integration effort, 0.5 FTE saved through streamlined monitoring, and 40 man-days saved annually in incident management.
