A IBM Systems Case Study
System Design Analysis, Inc. (SDA) helps SAP clients plan for the 2027 SAP S/4HANA support deadline, but many customers first need to assess whether their current infrastructure can handle the move and how to control the cost and footprint of the required upgrades. In this case, SDA evaluated options for a large Canadian municipality and a large Canadian retail chain, including on-premise, cloud, and hybrid approaches, to determine the best platform for SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA.
IBM Systems provided IBM Power Systems and IBM Storage, including IBM Power System S924, IBM FlashSystem, and IBM Spectrum Virtualize, to deliver the performance, resilience, and smaller footprint SDA needed for its clients. The solution cut the city’s server count from 14 to 7 for payroll workloads, reduced SAP footprint by 50% compared with other systems, lowered infrastructure and cooling costs, and put SDA’s customers on track to meet the SAP S/4HANA migration deadline.
