Exavault, a file-transfer platform whose API handles about 35,000 requests per minute (over 50 million calls daily), faced the challenge of gaining customer‑granular visibility to troubleshoot individual account slowdowns. Their previous monitoring couldn’t tag transactions by user or account, so Exavault adopted IBM Instana—using the Instana SDK for error tracking, debugging and alerting—to get per‑account telemetry and faster detection of edge‑case issues.

IBM Instana was implemented to add metadata to each API call, provide account‑level drilldowns, and send automated alerts into Slack, which uncovered hidden bugs and reduced load on application servers. Since deploying IBM Instana in April 2019, Exavault cut mean time to resolution by 56.6% and improved availability from 99.51% to 99.99%, freeing engineering time for new features and roadmap work.
