How Polystream Identifies and Fixes Performance Issues with Instana

Polystream, a global real‑time 3D delivery platform, noticed its internal dashboard had become noticeably slower after a release. To investigate, the team used IBM Instana’s APM capabilities to monitor microservices, generate latency graphs, and trace individual requests across their Kubernetes/Istio environment.

Using IBM Instana, Polystream quickly drilled from high‑level latency graphs into request traces and the exact pods serving those requests, where they discovered Docker CPU limits were causing continuous throttling. By identifying and correcting that misconfiguration, they eliminated elevated request latencies (traces showed requests >1s with ~1s network delays), restoring dashboard responsiveness and greatly reducing time to diagnose similar issues in the future.
