IBM’s Cloud Pak for Data Helps Wunderman Thompson Build Guideposts for Reopening

Wunderman Thompson needed trusted, timely, localized data to guide businesses through COVID‑19 reopening and recovery decisions. With support from IBM Data and AI Expert Labs and the Data Science and AI Elite team, Wunderman Thompson used IBM Cloud Pak for Data (on IBM Cloud) together with Watson Studio and Watson Machine Learning to rapidly develop a COVID‑19 dashboard that fills gaps in risk, readiness and recovery insights.

Built on IBM Cloud Pak for Data, the solution combined three years of Wunderman Thompson’s Identity Network transaction data (about $600 billion across 40 purchase categories) with health, census and point‑of‑interest datasets to produce county‑by‑county risk, readiness and recovery indexes for 3,241 U.S. counties. The dashboard, delivered in weeks, gives enterprises actionable guideposts—enabling retailers and telcos to prioritize store reopenings, optimize inventory and supply chains, and apply recommended actions based on risk and readiness scores.
