Christian Science Adopts Multi-channel Digital Strategy

The First Church of Christ, Scientist and its flagship news arm, The Christian Science Monitor, needed to modernize and unify a complex suite of print and online publications for a global audience. Challenges included moving to a digital-first model, consolidating editorial workflows and reader entitlements across multiple sites and languages, supporting subscription and print-fulfillment systems, and delivering a consistent, mobile-first user experience that supports the Church’s mission.

Partnering with Mugo Web and running on Ibexa DXP, the Church implemented a common, scalable architecture with shared data structures, CRM and print integrations, a digital asset manager, and streamlined workflows. The Monitor adopted a metered paywall and launched the Monitor Daily email/podcast, Quarterly.ChristianScience.com was rebuilt mobile-first, and JSH-Online centralized multilingual subscriptions and archives. Results include strong reader engagement (about two million opt-in emails/month with a 60% open rate), increased subscription adoption, faster digital publishing, and a unified platform that continues to support ongoing syndication and user-experience improvements.
