A IAdea Case Study
China Post Media, commissioned by the China Post Office to equip each of China’s 71,000 post offices with 1–4 displays, needed a rugged, Linux-based digital signage solution that could play HD MPEG video and JPEGs, run 24x7 in harsh heat and intermittent power, and operate over extremely low-bandwidth satellite links while supporting remote management (scheduling, multi-zone playback, file transfer, logs, health reporting and firmware updates). IAdea was chosen to meet these technical and operational requirements with a compact, fanless, solid-state player and an API for backend integration.
IAdea’s high-definition media players were deployed (integrated with 32" displays by systems integrator Rong-guan and tied into China Post Media’s backend via the IAdea API), with a 1,000-unit pilot across 500 Beijing post offices and additional test units in remote mountain locations running over 64 Kbps satellite links. The pilot showed IAdea players to be dependable in poor communications; a simulated 142,000‑player load confirmed the players’ intelligent bandwidth management and scalability, enabling China Post Media to roll out a network spanning 71,000 post offices and 260,000 rural kiosks for advertising, government messaging and commerce.
