Preview of the Cathay United Bank Case Study

Cathay United Bank - Customer Case Study

Cathay United Bank (CUB), a leading bank in Taiwan, sought a comprehensive security solution to protect its innovative mobile banking services and online transactions. The challenge was to move beyond basic one-time passwords (OTP) via SMS, which had vulnerabilities, and to establish a new, higher security standard for the industry. To address this, CUB partnered with vendor i-Sprint Innovations.

The solution implemented was i-Sprint's two-factor authentication (2FA) Security Token, which provided stronger transaction signing capabilities. This hardware token generated secure OTPs for customers, protecting against various threats and enabling convenient cross-device and cross-country transactions. For i-Sprint and its partner Automated, the project involved seamless integration and managing the full token deployment process. The result solidified CUB's market leadership by providing a trusted, secure service that expanded its business potential and set a new benchmark for the banking sector in Taiwan.
