The XPR300 helps Lyman-Morse diversify and access new opportunities Increases cut efficiency, accuracy, and quality with Hypertherm plasma

Lyman-Morse, a boatbuilder and custom metal fabricator, faced challenges with growth as outsourcing their material cutting was adding significant time and cost to projects. They needed to bring cutting in-house but required a process with a small heat affected zone, especially for stainless steel, to protect metal integrity. To address this, they turned to vendor Hypertherm.

The solution was the implementation of Hypertherm's XPR300 plasma cutting system. This system provided the required cut quality with a minimal heat affected zone and allowed them to cut a variety of materials up to three inches thick. The results were lower costs, higher quality cuts, and complete control over their process. Furthermore, Hypertherm's technology enabled Lyman-Morse to successfully diversify, with their fabrication facility now being 90% non-marine based, accessing new markets in agricultural, aeronautical, and architectural sectors.
