A Hypertherm Case Study
A construction machinery manufacturer based in China was facing challenges with its robotic oxyfuel beveling process, which failed to meet its high-precision requirements for circular beveling and produced excessive thermal deformation. The resulting poor cut quality created a substantial and costly secondary workload of manual grinding, which also raised safety concerns for its workers.
Hypertherm recommended and implemented its HPR260XD high-definition plasma system. This solution more than tripled the manufacturer's cutting efficiency and significantly improved bevel quality. The superior cuts drastically reduced the need for subsequent grinding, improving worker productivity and safety. Most significantly, the switch to the Hypertherm system resulted in overall beveling costs that were up to four times lower than with the previous oxyfuel process.
