Fabrication shop speeds up skeleton removal with Duramax torch

Hokes Bluff Welding & Fab, a metal fabrication company, was facing significant inefficiency and operator safety issues. Their challenge was the time-consuming and physically demanding process of cutting skeletons from their CNC table using an oxyacetylene hand torch, which was causing operator back strain.

By implementing Hypertherm's solution—a Powermax105 plasma system with a Duramax Hyamp Long torch—the customer dramatically improved their operation. The long torch allowed for drag cutting from the edge of the table, eliminating the need for the operator to bend over. This change from Hypertherm cut the table clearing time in half, maximized production by reducing downtime, and greatly improved operator safety and comfort.
