A Hyperledger Case Study
Walmart Canada faced a significant challenge in its supply chain logistics, specifically with managing freight invoices for its network of over 70 carriers. The company was burdened by a massive volume of data and a high rate of invoice disputes, which often exceeded 70% and led to prolonged payment delays and administrative costs. To address this perennial issue, Walmart Canada partnered with vendor DLT Labs to develop a solution using blockchain technology, specifically leveraging the Hyperledger Fabric platform.
DLT Labs developed and implemented DL Freight™, a blockchain-based solution built on Hyperledger Fabric. This platform created a single source of truth by automating invoicing and payments through smart contracts, which all parties agreed upon. The results were transformative: invoice disputes were virtually eliminated, dropping from over 70% to just 1.5%. The time to approve and pay carriers was reduced from months to less than a week, processing hundreds of millions of dollars in payments efficiently and improving trust across the supply chain.
