Sony Global Education Chooses Hyperledger Fabric for a Next-Generation Credentials Platform

Sony Global Education set out to build a next-generation credentials platform to centralize and verify education and training records across a consortium of government agencies and private organizations. Faced with silos, varying validation processes, and the need for fine-grained access control, Sony Global Education selected Hyperledger—specifically Hyperledger Fabric—to support smart contracts, data partitioning, and an open-source, consortium-ready blockchain framework.

Using Hyperledger Fabric, Sony Global Education prototyped and deployed a secure cloud-based credentials platform that met all functional requirements, including tamper-proof learning histories, flexible access control, and verifiable transcripts. The solution was tested with data from the Global Math Challenge (250,000 participants) and is being demonstrated with the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, proving Hyperledger Fabric can scale, secure, and consolidate education data for trusted sharing and analysis.
