Case Study: ScanTrust achieves supply chain transparency with Hyperledger Sawtooth

ScanTrust brings supply chain transparency to Cambio Coffee with Hyperledger Sawtooth in May 2018

ScanTrust, a provider of an enterprise SaaS platform for supply chain traceability, wanted to enhance its offering to bring more transparency to its client Cambio Coffee's ethical trade business. To achieve this, ScanTrust turned to the vendor Hyperledger and utilized its Hyperledger Sawtooth blockchain framework to build a blockchain-enabled traceability function.

The solution implemented by Hyperledger Sawtooth allowed ScanTrust to record each step of the coffee supply chain on an immutable blockchain. This resulted in Cambio Coffee being able to provide consumers with a verifiable journey of their coffee beans, which was met with an enthusiastic customer response. Hyperledger's technology enabled the plan to expand traceability across the entire supply chain and opened doors for future blockchain-supported initiatives like a "Tip your farmer" program.
